About us
How we work

From your document to accepted overseas

Four steps, and we tell you plainly when you do not need a notary at all.

1

Tell us where it is going

The country and the authority that will receive the document decide what it needs: a certified copy, a notarised signature, a translation, an apostille or embassy legalisation.

2

Bring or send the original

A notary must see the original document or witness the signature in person. We check it and confirm the steps before anything is signed.

3

Notarised or translated

The notarial certificate is signed, sealed and bound to your document; translations are by NAATI-certified translators.

4

Apostille or legalisation

Only DFAT issues apostilles in Australia. Documents for countries outside the Hague Convention go on to that country's embassy. We explain which route yours takes.

Using the document inside Australia only? A Justice of the Peace can often certify copies for free, and Home Affairs usually accepts copies certified by an authorised person.
